A channel with inturned lips. The lips grip the rubber beading so glass and door seals stay put under vibration, and the section throws water clear of the joint rather than letting it track inside.

The channel most body shops order by the tonne, rolled to the depth and width you need — no fixed sizes. An open C gives you bending stiffness for very little weight and leaves the inside face free for wiring, brackets and fasteners.

Also called a top hat or omega. The two outward flanges sit flat on the panel, so it rivets or spot-welds straight down without packers, and the raised crown carries the load across the span.

The drip rail along the roof edge. The return lip holds the run of water inside the trough and sends it to the downpipe, instead of letting it sheet down the window line and find its way into the body.
